1. Flavio Sala: The Cosmopolitan Virtuoso

"The New Paganini of the Guitar"
“I love to see a 30-year-old guitarist blow me away!”

This is how Alirio Díaz and Steve Howe, two legends of classical and rock guitar, expressed themselves after listening to Flavio Sala.

An indirect descendant of Francisco Tárrega’s school through his teacher Pasqualino Garzia, Flavio Sala embodies the rich sound of Andrés Segovia, the expressive freedom of Paco de Lucía, the cultural depth of Alirio Díaz, the modern and versatile precision of John Williams, and the timbral and repertory creativity of Julian Bream, blending these traits into a personal, passionate, and communicative voice capable of dialoguing with both tradition and contemporaneity.

Born in Bojano (Molise, Italy) in 1983 into a family of musicians, Flavio Sala began his concert career at just 18 years old, performing in prestigious venues across Europe, Russia, the United States, and South America.

Graduated with honors under the guidance of Pasqualino Garzia, he was one of the top students of the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he refined his skills with Oscar Ghiglia (1998–2003), and he is the winner of international awards (Gargnano 2001, Michele Pittaluga 2003, San Francisco 2004, Alirio Díaz in Venezuela 2006, Alexandre Tansman in Poland 2008).

Sala is recognized both as a soloist and in chamber and orchestral formations, collaborating with internationally renowned artists (Steve Howe, Mango, Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent, Rafael “Pollo” Brito, Marcus Miller, Alain Pérez, Piraña, Fabrizio Bosso, Toninho Horta, etc.) and with major orchestras (Turin Philharmonic, Venezuela Symphony, Moscow Philharmonic, Jury Bashmet New Russia Orchestra, Minas Gerais Orchestra, Milano Classica, etc.).

His discographic activity (10 albums) reflects his openness to contemporary languages, flamenco, and jazz, projecting classical guitar toward new sonic frontiers.

A charismatic advocate for guitar education, Flavio Sala is the creator of the CCCC, a Complete Classical Guitar Course streamed live on his YouTube channel, which has already surpassed 350,000 views and +70,000 hours of watching.

Mi Alma Llanera - Noche de Música Venezolana y mucho mas

The Revenge

Try to feel me

First Part: At the Center

· Bach: Chaconne in D minor (approximately 15 minutes)
A masterpiece of violin literature, it is considered the expressive and structural pinnacle of the Baroque era. The guitar transcription enriches the polyphonic subtleties and the instrument’s unmistakable timbre, offering the audience a totalizing emotional experience.

· Giuliani: Rossiniana No. 1 Op. 119 (approximately 16 minutes)
A virtuosic fantasy based on themes by Rossini, this work is Mauro Giuliani’s tribute to Gioachino Rossini and one of the most daring and fascinating pieces of nineteenth-century guitar repertoire, capable of blending tradition and spectacle.

· Britten: Nocturnal Op. 70 "After John Dowland" (approximately 15 minutes)
An introspective journey into night and dreams, this composition possesses great psychological depth. The piece deconstructs John Dowland’s theme “Come, Heavy Sleep,” revealing dreamlike atmospheres and existential tensions with a modern yet deeply idiomatic guitar language. A twentieth-century masterpiece, it demands exceptional interpretative sensitivity and technical mastery.

Second Part:
Dialogue and Invention

· Commissioned Work
Including a newly commissioned work significantly renews the chamber music repertoire for guitar and piano, promoting contemporary creativity and offering festivals an exclusive premiere. Betting on living composers supports today’s music, projects the show toward the future, and builds a dynamic bridge between tradition and modernity.

· Schubert: Sonata "Arpeggione" (D. 821) (approximately 30 minutes)
Composed for a hybrid instrument between guitar and cello, it is renowned for its lyricism and melodic intertwining between the two instruments. Its intimate lines and refined dialogues make it one of the most celebrated pages of chamber music, perfect for conveying the magic of collaboration between guitar (in transcription) and piano.

· Ponce: Concierto del Sur (approximately 26 minutes)
A cornerstone of the guitar repertoire, Manuel Ponce’s Concierto del Sur was born from collaboration with Andrés Segovia, who called it “the most precious jewel of my repertoire.” Inspired by the atmospheres of southern Spain, it alternates dances, nostalgic melodies, and festive moments, offering a monumental demonstration of the guitar’s identity as a solo instrument with orchestra (here in chamber transcription).

Duration: approximately 2 hours.

A unique show that celebrates the Venezuelan guitar repertoire in all its cultural richness.

Flavio Sala presents a selection of emblematic pieces that pay tribute to Venezuelan roots, culminating with the Concerto No. 1 for guitar and orchestra in its piano arrangement.

This program blends tradition and virtuosity, showcasing the classical guitar as a living and modern instrument. Ideal for festivals around the world, it deeply connects with audiences who love Latin American and classical music, under the motto of revitalizing and renewing the classical guitar.

Music by the most important Venezuelan composers.

Duration: approximately 2 hours.

A concert-show in which the Italian guitarist presents exclusively original compositions, arrangements, and transcriptions, exploring new sounds and emotions through the classical guitar.

In an intimate and contemporary program, each piece invites the audience to immerse themselves in the artist’s creative universe, showcasing his authenticity both as a composer and as a performer.

The recital traverses diverse emotional landscapes, combining virtuosity, sensitivity, and modernity, and offers a unique experience for lovers of the guitar and contemporary music, bringing new perspectives and original voices to the guitar repertoire.

Duration: approximately 2 hours.

A Comeback for Classical Guitar: A Manifesto for the Future

Classical guitar is ready to write a new chapter: a collective, innovative one open to the world. The “Comeback” is no longer nostalgia for the past but a call towards the future—a courageous commitment to art, excellence, and borderless collaboration.

Why “Comeback”?

This project is an invitation to all—musicians, audiences, promoters, and music lovers—to participate in rebuilding the role classical guitar deserves in contemporary culture. It is not about recovering past glories but about creating together a relevant present and an inspiring future.

· Overcoming superficiality: After years of routines and market dynamics, the guitar rises here as a symbol of genuine artistic expression, capable of moving and connecting generations.

· Collective construction: This rebirth requires the commitment and creativity of artists, the enthusiasm of the audience, and the support of institutions and patrons. Every contribution, large or small, adds to restoring the true essence of classical guitar.

· A global community: The guitar crosses cultures and languages. It is time to unite listeners and creators from around the world around a single message: music as a space for encounter, originality, and excellence.

Looking Forward

The “comeback” looks to the future:

·

New role models: We honor the great masters but want to inspire new generations of guitarists to reinvent the stage with their own voice and vision.

· Innovation in repertoire and staging: We bet on unpublished works, interdisciplinary collaborations, and immersive experiences that make every concert a laboratory of emotions and beauty.

· Access and inclusivity: The goal is for classical guitar to step out of closed circles and conquer theaters, auditoriums, and hearts across all continents.

What We Propose

· Gaining allies: We invite artistic directors, institutions, schools, and festivals worldwide to open their doors to honest, exciting, and contemporary proposals.

· Empowering the audience: Every spectator becomes an indispensable part of the change: enthusiasm, curiosity, and participation amplify the echo of this “comeback.”

· Creating a legacy: We want every concert to be a shared milestone, the beginning of a new tradition that inspires those who come after.

A Future to Build Together

Classical guitar not only claims a special place in cultivated music: it builds it collectively, reinventing its story every day. Every support, from anywhere in the world, is another step toward a vibrant, open, and diverse artistic community.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
The “Comeback” is the beginning of a future full of music, innovation, and connection.
Let us walk together toward this new universal resonance.
